Two pieces: the app on your iPad, and the agent on the machine you want to work on. The rendezvous server is optional — only if you want to run your own.
Requires iPadOS 15 or later. Free to use on your own network. App Store listing is on the way — meanwhile you can already install the host agent below.
App Store — releasing soon
Install this on every machine you want to reach — a Linux desktop, a headless server, a VPS, or a Mac. Each one serves its filesystem and a login shell to your paired iPads, and nothing else. Release V1.0.0 on GitHub.
macOS 12 or later. Ships as a menu-bar app that supervises the agent.

You do not need this for LAN use. Remote access and a self-hosted introducer binary are releasing soon — a single static binary with no database, for people who would rather not rely on our hosted introducer.

wss://rendezvous.spadeide.com — default baked into the app
and the agent once remote access ships. Leave the Rendezvous URL field empty in the
app to use whatever the current default is.
Every agent release ships
SHA256SUMS.txt
alongside the artifacts.

The macOS app is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarised, so Gatekeeper opens it without a warning. If macOS complains, the file was modified in transit — download it again rather than overriding the warning.
